EYE TESTS

Each examination is tailored specifically to an individual and no eye test is ever the same. Eye examinations are an important way of monitoring your general health and maintaining your eyes at their optimum focus.

If you have any queries about our eye tests please phone us or call in to see us. We have free information leaflets about many eye conditions that you can call in and pick up.

During the Test

During the test the optometrist will ask a series of questions to help him do the eye test. He will ask about your general health, your current medication & your family history of health. He then will test your vision and work out your new prescription for your glasses. After testing your vision, he will check the health of our eye, including the front surface and inside at the back.

Many clinical issues can be detected during an eye test such as dry eyes & blepharitis, which can be treated with wipes & drops. We can also identify issues like cataracts, macular degeneration & glaucoma which can be discussed and actioned as appropriate.

After the test

Once your eye test is complete, you will be passed over to a member of our dispensing team who can help you choose your glasses. See the Brands and Lenses pages on this website for more information about our products. If you need a referral, our team will action this immediately to the appropriate community ophthalmology provider.

MECS

We are a provider of the MECS scheme which stands for Minor Eye Conditions Service. This means we are able to assess onset clinical problems such as conjunctivitis; flashes & floaters; bloodshot eyes and ocular discomfort.

Children’s Vision

We recommend every child to start having their eyes tested at around 4 years old, before they start full time school. Most children who need glasses do not show any symptoms of having problems, so it is extremely important to keep on top of children’s eye tests as the optometrist can detect any issues. Did you know the vision screening test at school is not a full eye examination? A lot of children who need glasses often pass the screening test due to their eyes being young and accommodating.
